Mission Statement

The mission of the Ojibwa Community Library is to provide a collection of print and non-print materials to meet the lifelong learning, recreational, research, cultural, and informational needs of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community to include the Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College and ages ranging from pre-school to elders.



Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College Library is located at 409 Superior Avenue, Baraga, Michigan. It was opened in 2002 to serve the students of Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College and the community. The library is open to the public. The library has 6 Internet-linked computers available for use by patrons and provides free wireless Internet access. The library has a large selection of Native American books, periodicals and movies as well as popular fiction, non-fiction, children's books, and audio books. Ojibwa Community Library participates in the Upper Peninsula Region of Library Cooperation (UPRLC), which provides access to over 1.5 million volumes through interlibrary loan. The entire UPRLC catalog can be searched on-line here.

Laminating and copying are also available for a small charge. Call 906-353-8163 for additional information. Mary Bergerson is the Director and Kathy Autio is the assistant.

The Ojibwa Community Library has been awarded $133,000.00 enhancement grant from the Institutes of Museum and Library Services, Washington D.C. This grant will provide library services to KBIC's PrePrimary class, Early Head Start and Head Start classes.
