Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Housing Authority


The Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Housing Authority (OHA) is the Tribally-Designated Housing Entity of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community (KBIC).  The KBIC created OHA in 1965 to meet housing and employment needs on the L'Anse reservation in Upper Michigan.



Beartown Firefighters


The Keweenaw Bay Indian Community in cooperation with the Bureau of Indian Affairs manages a Type 2 Wildland Firefighting handcrew. The crew is based out of Baraga, MI. and is available for dispatch locally as well as nation-wide.



Health and Human Services


Community Health Representatives Program- Provides home visits to assigned patients and transportation to medical appointments for patients of the Health Center who have no other means of transportation. All transportation requests must be made in advance and are on a first come basis.



Office of Child Support Services


The OCSS provides paternity establishment and child support services to families where the child, mother and/or father are enrolled members of the KBIC or other federally recognized Tribe when at least one of the parties reside on the L’Anse Reservation.

Community Assistance Programs


Limited temporary financial assistance to eligible tribal members who are without income or resource, and are not eligible for any other state, federal, or tribal assistance programs.
