SERVICES:          Public Safety: Provide Police Service to all Reservation Land, which includes Baraga, Marquette, and Ontonagon counties.  Facilitate and promote the Community Policing concept on all reservation sites. Provide for the enforcement of Tribal and Federal laws within the exterior boundaries of the Reservation. 

 

Mission Statement for new Conservation Department

The Keweenaw Bay Tribal Conservation Department was developed to enforce the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community’s Tribal Code of Law, and the Integrated Resource Management Plan (IRMP).  The Conservation Department will focus on Title Ten, which pertains to hunting, fishing, trapping and gathering whish is reserved under the Treaty of 1842.

The Mission of the department is to set and maintain new standards of excellence in Conservation through knowledge, enforcement, and training.  Our goal is to conserve the natural resources, environment, people, and property of our reservation boundaries and home territory.
