The Ojibwa Recreation Area is located along the pristine shores of Lake Superior. We offer camping, fishing, beaches, and a marina with easy access to Lake Superior via Keweenaw Bay. Also located within the recreation area are the historic Sand Point Lighthouse and Sand Point Archeological Site. These sites are registered with the National Register of Historic Places.

Campground

The Ojibwa Campground offers a serene setting among pine trees to enjoy the outdoors with your family. Amenities include restrooms with showers, fire pits, RV dump station, electrical outlets, playground, and pavilions to host a family get together. The campground also hosts the annual Keweenaw Bay Maawanji-iding or Pow-wow every summer in July. There is also a full-time caretaker on the premises to take care of any questions or concerns that you may have during your stay.

Marina

The marina is located on the shores of Keweenaw Bay. It is the perfect location from which to launch your boat for a day of fishing for lake trout, salmon, or the many other other species that Lake Superior has to offer. Slips are available for rent at very reasonable rates.

Sand Point Lighthouse

Sand Point Lighthouse was first lit in 1878 and is listed with the National Historic Register #80004824. It has since been deactivated and replaced by an automated light. The lighthouse is of brick construction and has attached keepers quarters. The structure is not currently open to the public.
